How can AI help businesses create visual versions for different channels?

Start with an approved core creative concept, rearrange content for each channel, and review readability and factual accuracy at every size.

Define the reader’s task for each channel first

When the same campaign appears on a website, in a mobile feed, on an exhibition screen, and in sales materials, first specify the viewing distance, viewing time, dimensions, and reader task for each channel. AI should be tasked with proposing ways to rearrange content under these conditions, while the business decides what must remain and what may be shortened.

Suppose a campaign visual is needed for both a mobile feed and sales materials. The mobile version could emphasize one main message and a call to action, while the sales version could retain a fuller explanation. For an exhibition screen, use the viewing distance to decide the relative prominence of the headline and product image, rather than directly carrying over the mobile arrangement.

This method offers independent practical recommendations extending from CES’s public discussion of AI and creativity. Each channel’s task should be specific enough to check, such as whether readers can find the event date or inquiry link. If viewing conditions remain unclear, complete the brief before deciding on the layout.

Build a core asset package that defines what may be rewritten

Before production, assemble the approved headline, product images, logo, dates, calls to action, and conditions of use, along with original files, versions, and reviewers. Identify the usage rights for each image and text item, and specify which content may be shortened and which may only be repositioned, giving AI exploration clear boundaries.

Suppose the core copy includes a product model, an event date, and an introductory paragraph. AI could be allowed to propose a shorter introduction while keeping the model and date unchanged. If the shortened version cannot retain necessary conditions of use, adjust the layout or reduce other content rather than deleting restrictions to make everything fit.

The package is ready when the team can locate the approved version of every key item and knows which changes are permitted. Clarify missing business facts with the responsible person instead of filling gaps with generated content. Handle personal information, client files, and unpublished materials only through tools and procedures approved by the business.

Use AI to explore layouts, then complete each channel’s version

AI can use the same asset package to propose portrait, landscape, and other layout sketches, explaining the order of the headline, product image, supporting information, and call to action. Core brand identity and facts should remain consistent. Use approved assets for exact text and logos rather than asking the tool to redraw them.

Suppose two portrait layouts need comparison. Change only the positions of the product image and headline, keeping the copy and colors consistent for the time being; compare copy length separately in the next round. Save the brief, prompts, reference files, and output versions for each round so the team can identify which adjustment caused a difference.

Compare candidates in their intended media and choose based on whether they support the channel’s reading task, rather than the number generated or internal preferences. If a single aspect ratio cannot accommodate necessary content, reorganize the layout. If missing information is the problem, return to the brief and supply it.

Check readability, product facts, and conditions of use at every size

Preview every version at its actual size and check reading order, crop-safe areas, color, contrast, typography, and QR code usability. Explanations may vary in length across channels, but model numbers, figures, product claims, and necessary conditions of use should match the approved assets.

Suppose converting a landscape version to portrait crops out a disclaimer or pushes a QR code into a position where it is difficult to use. Rearrange the content rather than simply shrinking every element. If a product image contains details that do not match the actual product, correct them against the original assets and check the text, logo, and image sources individually.

Delivery requires necessary information to be readable at the intended size, key facts and sources to be verifiable, and brand rules and usage restrictions to be retained. Pseudo-text, incorrect model numbers, or invented features in generated visuals must be addressed manually before formal delivery. Refer anything that cannot be confirmed to the appropriate responsible person.

Accept versions against channel tasks and maintain the derivatives

Create a channel inventory recording each version, dimensions, publication location, approver, and update date, and have design and business leads review the final outputs. Then ask people who were not involved in creation to read or use the materials according to the intended task, recording whether they find key information, what they misunderstand, and which issues remain unresolved.

Suppose the review task is to find the event date and inquiry link in a mobile visual. If a participant mistakes a draft date for the final date, first check the asset version, then revise the relevant visual and repeat the same task. Base acceptance on task completion and factual verification rather than treating personal aesthetic preferences as direct acceptance criteria.

When core copy changes, check every affected derivative, retain source files, feedback, and approval records, and inform relevant colleagues of the conditions of use, responsible person, and correction channel. Pause publication if image permissions or factual support cannot be traced.
